There is a popular restaurant called the Shinsei Shuzo Torisei Honten (京都・伏見神聖酒蔵 鳥せい 本店) within the Yamamoto Honkei Brewery in Fushimi. It has a great atmosphere and highly recommended meals, so tends to be crowded with locals, but there is an English menu available. The restaurant serves excellent chicken dishes including yakitori, or skewered, grilled chicken; ramen; and sashimi chicken that is lightly seared on the outside. Skewers average 120-200 and can be ordered separately so you can enjoy your own selection. The restaurant also features sake from the brewery, including seasonal offerings that are found nowhere else. They even have a all-you-can-drink menu!

Shinsei Shuzo Torisei is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30 am to 11 pm, and Sundays and holidays from 11 am to 11 pm. It is closed on Mondays. There is a children’s menu and child seats available. Because it is so popular, it is best to avoid peak times. Try for a late lunch or early dinner.
