Football Association of Thailand Appoints Bryan Robson as New Coach

TIME : 2016/2/24 18:38:39

The Football Association of Thailand have appointed former Manchester United and England player Bryan Robson as the new coach of the national football team. Robson has agreed a four year deal and everybody connected with Thai football will be hoping he lasts longer than his predecessor, Peter Reid, who also signed a four year contract in September 2008. Reid was recently lured back to England by a job offer from Stoke City and although he suggested he could continue to coach the Thai team on a part-time basis, the Football Association of Thailand rejected Reid’s proposal and sought a replacement.

Bryan Robson is another high-profile appointment which shows ambitious intent from the Thai football authorities who are hoping that the new coach can build a squad good enough to qualify for the 2014 World Cup. Robson has had mixed fortunes coaching in England including spells at Middlesbrough, West Bromwich Albion, Bradford City and Sheffield United. Despite that, Robson renames a big name in international football on the back of an illustrious playing career in which he captained Manchester United and England.
