TIME : 2016/2/27 17:38:28

Why go in winter: Start the new year by unleashing your inner Olympian.

Creds: Park City hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics and is the home of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association. It’s still a hot spot on the international race circuit for winter sports.

Dress code: Quiksilver parkas and Roxy pants, with Rossignol gear.

Get the look: Cole Sport (1615 Park Ave.; 435/649-4806).

Catch a lift with a local hero: 1952 Olympic gold and silver medalist Stein Eriksen, 81, skis at Deer Valley Resort. Chris Waddell, most decorated male skier in Paralympic history, carves turns at the Canyons Resort.

Watch them fly: Catch the 2009 Visa International World Cup, including mogul and aerial competitions, at Deer Valley Resort (Jan 29–31; free).
