Picnic at The Shard

How do you take your tea? Cream? Sugar? How about at 800 feet above ground?

This May, London's iconic, Renzo Piano-designed skyscraper The Shard is launching Sky-High Tea, basically a luxury picnic where guests enjoy finger sandwiches, scones, a signature tea blend, and—quite possibly the most British-sounding thing ever—an “assortment of fancies.” It’s all on the open-air sky deck of the building’s 72nd floor.

Created in partnership with classic British grocer Fortnum & Mason, the program offers two different high-tea "hamperlings," one with a bottle of champagne, the other without. Included in both, of course, is a panoramic view of the city below from Western Europe’s highest observation platform.

Worried about gray skies? Opt for a ticket to the sky deck paired with an afternoon tea at F&M’s Diamond Jubilee Tea Saloon, and leave your umbrella at home.

Picnic experiences will be available to book May 1, and prices start from $130 for two people. For more info, head to theviewfromtheshard.com.
